An earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter Scale was felt on Monday morning (local time) in the Java island in Indonesia. The U.S. Geological Survey briefly posted a tsunami warning after the earthquake, which they say was centered 318 kilometers off southern Java, 24 kilometers beneath the ocean floor.
In the face of a changing Middle East, the IDF held a set of war games this week aimed at preparing the military for all-out war against Hezbollah, Syria and Hamas. The exercise did not include soldiers or live-fire exercises, but was held to drill commanders and their decisions in the event of a large-scale war on multiple fronts.The scenarios simulated during the drill included a war with Hezbollah in Lebanon, sparked by a terrorist attack overseas as well as the involvement of Syria, Hamas and Iran.

Striking workers in central African oil exporter Gabon are shutting down the nation's oilfields to press for more local hiring in the sector, a union official said on Friday. Jerusalem has urged Moscow to review its plans to sell anti-ship cruise missiles to Syria, Israel's ambassador to Russia was quoted as saying on Sunday, amid heightened fears the arms could fall into the hands of militants. The single biggest atrocity in the long battle for control of Ivory Coast has emerged after aid workers discovered the bodies of up to 1,000 people in the town of Duekoue. Charity workers who reached Duekoue said it appeared the killings had taken place in a single day, shortly after the town fell to troops loyal to Alassane Ouattara, the man internationally-recognised as having won last year’s presidential election.
The military intervention in Libya will not end in a stalemate, Foreign Secretary William Hague has said. He said Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's regime had no future because it was isolated and "can't sell any oil". Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday instructed the Justice, Defense and Foreign Ministries to examine steps that can be taken in order to cancel the Goldstone Report. Reaction to the article is still muted, as it a weekend, a pro-Israel source in Washington told "Globes" that a "flood" of statements, petitions, and even official responses by the House of Representatives and the Senate can be expected in the coming days.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Saturday expressed deep concern over the prevailing situation in Syria and called for immediate end to use of violence against peaceful demonstrators in the Middle East country.-Syrian authorities have accused 'armed groups backed by foreign powers' of being behind the recent unrest, during which some 50 people were killed, according to official figures.
