Overcoming Sexual Sin
Q. I believe that Jesus died to pay the penalty for my sins. I have confessed I am a sinner and try to repent of my sins but the only really big sin I can’t seem to stop is sexual sin. I don’t have sex with anyone in real life but I fantasize about it almost constantly. I am a computer addict and have “cyber sex” occasionally and look at pics of naked people. I cannot seem to stop this behavior. I have asked Jesus to help me and He did help me to stop my hourlong fantasies at bedtime but I still have impure thoughts. What can I do?
A. When by faith you accepted Jesus as your Savior, He issued you a pardon that covered all the sins of your life, even those you haven’t committed yet (Colossians 2:13-14). This is not a license to sin, but is a guarantee of forgiveness. Be faithful to confess and He will be faithful to forgive and will purify you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Keep asking Him for the strength to resist (James 4:7) and to deliver you from this addiction. He has given you weapons with divine power to overcome this (2 Cor. 10:3-5) and by faith you will.
