Remain a Humble Servant
Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one?
1 Corinthians 3:5
Who am I? Who is Chuck Smith? Who is Billy Graham? We are ministers. In the Greek it isDoulos, servants. We are all servants to the community.
Musicians, pastors, leaders, athletes; everyone in this world wants their name in big lights. We want to be known more than Jesus Christ. That should never be. Jesus is the true celebrity. It is His name we should see in lights.
God chose everyone He has serving. As we go to lunch, as we go to the stores, wherever we go, we talk to people and God uses our lives but we do not convert people. We are being used by God. We are just vessels, going out and spreading the Word. We are not building a foundation for ourselves. We are building God’s foundation.
We are not here to build our kingdoms. There are many needs in the body of Christ. If people start getting their eyes on you, praising you and trusting in you, then they do not have a firm foundation. They will be on shaky ground if their foundation is built upon man and not Christ.
God wants to use each one of us to promote His kingdom. Remember it is all about Him. As God uses your life, you have to change and grow spiritually but you have to remain a servant. Paul was a mighty servant of God.
The right manner of growth is to grow less in one’s own eyes.
