Why Would The Jews Return To Israel?
Q. What could possibly happen to bring the wealthy American Jews back to Israel ? Since the Anti-Christ seems friendly at first to the Jews I don’t see a national movement or persecution against the Jews, as Germany did prior to World War ll, nor do I see Israel becoming wealthy overnight a driving force for mass migration to Israel and besides Israel does not have the infrastructure or land to support millions more and lets face it Israel is already an overcrowded and I see it to be an ugly country.
A. It’s important to remember that modern Israel was founded as a secular nation and is currently living out of covenant with God. What supernatural protection the nation receives is purely a measure of His grace. But if it’s true that there’s a “God shaped hole” in every human heart that can only be filled by the Lord’s presence in their life, that hole is especially large and in need of filling in the hearts of Jews. They are His Chosen people and have a rich history that documents His relationship with them.
Therefore, when the Jews from around the world return to Israel it won’t be for material wealth or Utopian living conditions. It will be because God has reached out to them and begun to fill the hole in their hearts. According to Ezekiel this will happen right after the battle he foretold in Ezekiel 38-39. Ezekiel 39:28 reads, “Then they will know that I am the Lord their God, for though I sent them into exile among the nations I will now gather them into their own land, not leaving any behind.”
It’s also important to note that if a growing number of scholars is correct, Israel will soon be much larger as a result of land regained in the coming Battle of Psalm 83. This will at least include Lebanon, the West Bank and the Gaza strip.
As for being an ugly country, in my years of leading pilgrimages to Israel, I did not find it to be so. I can only imagine what it will be like after the restoration it will receive at the time of the 2nd Coming.
