Do The Jewish People Understand Prophecy?

Q. Recently I got to thinking about how we who love the Lord can hardly wait for His return, and are watching for Isaiah 17, Psalm 83, and Ezekiel 38 & 39.  It made me wonder, what do the Jews do with these prophecies that are in “their” part of the Bible, but have not happened yet?  Do you think the average Jew living in Israel today even knows that Damascus is scheduled to be a ‘heap of ruins’, that Gaza and friends are going to be dealt with,  that Russia will lead a war with Iran and God will defeat them personally?  I just wonder if they even read these passages, believe them, and realize they are due any day, or are they not even aware of them.

A. The only Christian believers who are eagerly awaiting the Lord are those who study prophecy and take it literally.  Even among those who claim to be born again, the vast majority  do not do so and are hopelessly uninformed about the End Times. The same is true in Judaism.  Most Jews do not adhere to a literal interpretation of the Old Testament and have no real understanding of what’s coming.
