Why Rosh Hashanah?

Q. I’ve read your article titled ‘No One knows the Day or the Hour’ and I agree that they refer to the Second Coming and I also understand that 2018 is neither a day or an hour. But what I was wondering is what exactly is Rosh Hashanah and why do you think it will be when Christ will return? Also, is we can predict the day that Rosh Hashanah will fall in 2018, wouldn’t that mean we would know that day of His return? I simply want to get the clear picture so I can be a better witness.

A. Unlike the rapture, which is specific to the church, Rosh Hashanah is a Feast of Israel that marks the beginning of the Jewish year.   That means its prophetic fulfillment will have to do with Israel.  The spring feasts were fulfilled in the 1st coming and I believe the fall feasts will be fulfilled in the 2nd coming. The first of the fall feasts is Rosh Hashanah.  When the Lord returns it will mark the beginning of Israel’s Kingdom Age.

It’s also known as the feast where no one knows the day or the hour, due to the fact that unlike other feasts it occurs on a new moon which is difficult to determine in advance even in normal times. But immediately after the Great Tribulation ends both the sun and moon will go dark (Matt. 24:29) which will make it impossible to predict the day or hour of the Lord’s return.
