ANKARA, Turkey (AP) - Russia on Thursday secured Turkish support for a pipeline project that challenges European efforts to reduce energy dependence on Moscow, but predicted that Europe would ultimately benefit from the deal.

Russia's South Stream pipeline rivals a pipeline project known as Nabucco that has the backing of the European Union and the United States and would provide a supply of gas not subject to Russian control.

At a signing ceremony in Ankara, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, sought to portray the South Stream project as a contributor to Europe's energy security. The deal they signed provides for constructing part of the pipeline through Turkish waters in the Black Sea.

South Stream would eventually run from Russia to Bulgaria before delivering gas to consumers in the European Union.

Putin acknowledged that the Russian plan was in competition with the EU-backed one, speaking in blunter language than Russian officials who have downplayed the pipeline rivalry in the past. But he suggested the two projects could coexist.

"Even with the construction of South Stream, Nabucco will not be closed," Putin said at a news conference. "The more infrastructure projects, the better, because that will create reliability and stability of energy supply to Europe."

Erdogan, whose country stands to benefit from both pipelines because of its strategic location between Asia and Europe, said even the parallel projects would in the future "not be sufficient for Europe."

Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi joined Putin and Erdogan at the ceremony, smiling broadly from his front-row seat. Italian oil and gas giant Eni is involved in the South Stream project and another Turkish venture, Samsun-Ceyhan.

Just last month in Ankara, European countries sealed a deal on the Nabucco pipeline project, which aims to bring natural gas from Central Asia and the Middle East to Europe.

But Nabucco can at best put only a dent in Moscow's dominance even if it finds the gas supplies it now seeks to make it a viable rival to Russian pipelines running to Europe.

The maneuvering has a political edge, recalling Cold War-era suspicion between the West and Moscow. And it comes just before the anniversary Friday of the start of the 2008 war between Russia and Georgia.

Putin described the South Stream talks with Turkey as difficult, but said the two sides also agreed to study the feasibility of expanding their Blue Stream project. Turkey is already supplied with gas from Russia via Blue Stream, a pipeline that opened in 2005 and tunnels under the Black Sea separating the two countries.

An expanded project, dubbed Blue Stream II, could supply other countries including Cyprus, Israel, Lebanon and Syria with Russian oil and gas via Turkey, Putin and Erdogan said.

Courted by suppliers and consumers alike, Turkey has emerged a winner in the energy game. It and four European Union countries - Austria, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary - had signed the deal to allow the Nabucco pipeline to cross their countries. Turkey's involvement in Russia's South Stream project as well, boosts its role as a strategic player in the region.

Turkey may have benefited from tension between Russia and Ukraine. The South Stream deal with Turkey would give Russia a clear path to reach Bulgaria while avoiding Ukrainian waters. Some South Stream supporters had worried that Ukraine might not allow Russia to route the pipeline through its waters, as many European countries have sough to diminish Russian dominance in energy markets.

Ukraine was also at the center of a January price dispute that led to Russia shutting off gas supplies through Ukraine, affecting European Union countries further west. It was only the most recent of gas disputes between the two countries that negatively affected the EU.

Putin and Erdogan also signed other energy deals, including on nuclear cooperation. Turkey is considering a bid by Russia's Atomstroiexport to build Turkey's first nuclear power plant.

Hours before Putin's arrival, about 20 Greenpeace members protested the plant plans. Hundreds of riot police stood guard.

Russia also committed to join the Samsun-Ceyhan project, a crude oil pipeline between the Black Sea city of Samsun and the Mediterranean commercial hub of Ceyhan, both in Turkey.

The pipeline would carry Russian oil and provide an alternative route to the congested Bosporus strait.

Recently, Bulgaria has threatened to back out of a similar project, Burgas-Alexandroupolis.

Russia provides over one-quarter of Europe's gas, and 80 percent of that moves over Ukrainian pipelines.

The United States and Turkey do not object to Russia's participation in Nabucco as a business partner, though Moscow would likely be reluctant to ship gas through a pipeline that competes with its own projects. Washington says Iran should be excluded from Nabucco until it improves its ties with the West.

Jesus Is Coming Again~Blackstone

Jesus Is Coming Again

Reader, do you know that Jesus is coming again.

He said, "I will come again" (John 14:3) and His word endureth forever, for He is the truth.

The angels said He would come again. "The same Jesus," "and in like manner ," and they were not mistaken when they announced His first coming.

The Holy Spirit, by the mouth of the apostles, hath repeatedly said He would come again. Is not such an event, stated upon such authority, of vital importance to us?

At His first coming, the world rejected Him. He was the despised Nazarene. But when He comes again, He will appear as "the blessed and only Potentate, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords."

He is coming to sit upon the throne of His glory, and to be admired in 'all them that believed, and to rule, in judgment and equity, all the nations of the earth.

How glorious it will be to see the King in His beauty.

Perhaps you are not a Christian, and say- "I Don't Care Anything About It."

Then, dear friend, we point you to the crucified Savior as the only hope of salvation.

We beg of you to "kiss the Son," lest ye perish from the way. Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him. What shall it profit you if you gain the whole world and lose your own soul? He is coming, and we know neither the day, nor the hour, when He may come.

What if He should come now?

Would you be found of Him in peace," or would you be left behind to endure the terrible things which shall come upon the world, while the church is with Christ in the air, and be made at His appearing to mourn and pray to the mountains and rocks to hide you from His face?

"Prepare to meet thy God," was the solemn injunction to Israel (Amos 4:12), and every one of us, both Jew and Gentile, must meet Him, either in grace or in judgment.

We, then, as ambassadors for Christ, beseech you: be ye reconciled to God, now, in the accepted time, in the day of salvation. Do let us entreat you to repent and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, and that you may turn "to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from Heaven," and be unblamable at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But if you are a Christian, then we point you to His coming again, as The True Incentive to a Holy Life. Jesus is coming, therefore mortify your members which are upon the earth, that you may appear with Him in glory.

Strive and pray for purity of heart, that You may "be like Him and see Him as He is." Search the Word, that you may be sanctified and cleansed thereby, and that your whole spirit, and soul, and body may be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. But possibly you say, with contempt, "Oh, That's Second Adventism." Beloved, have you considered that Moses, so David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Zecariah, all the prophets and apostles, were believers in the second advent of Christ? And because some, by setting dates, and other errors, have brought disrepute upon this doctrine, shall we east it aside altogether?

But it may be you say (as we have been pained to hear from so many even earnest Christians): "Well, I Don't Think It Concerns Me Much, Anyway: I've always thought that in most cases it meant death, and if I'm prepared for death, that's enough; and there is too much speculation about it to suit me; and I don't believe it's a practical doctrine; and, more than that, I think it's a mistake to pay so much attention to it."

Yes, even thus do many Christians, who profess to be members of the body of Christ, end who have been espoused unto one husband, that they may be presented to Him -summarily dispose of this precious truth, that Jesus is coming, to take unto Himself His bride.

0, beloved, do not thus deprive yourself of this comforting truth. Please take your pencil and mark in your Bible the passages that pertain to it; and see How Large a Portion of the Word Is Devoted to It. If the Holy Ghost has deemed it so important, is it not worthy of our attention? The Word exhorts us to give attention to it; and the danger of condemnation is to them who do not.

Again, please to examine the passages cited under the heading, ((A Practical Doctrine," on page 180 and see how Jesus and the apostles used this doctrine to incite us to watchfulness, repentance, patience, ministerial faithfulness, brotherly love, etc., and then decide whether anything could be more practical.

Surely no doctrine, in the Word of God, presents a deeper motive for crucifying the flesh, and for separation unto God, and to work for souls, as our hope and joy and crown of rejoicing than this does.

For the whole teaching of it is, that our conversation (citizenship) is in heaven; from whence, also, we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body." It awakens groaning for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

It gives us a view of the world, as a wrecked vessel, and stimulates us to work with all our might that we may save some. Most, if not all, of the evangelists of our day are animated by this doctrine, and surely their work is practical.

Again, Peter says, "We have a more sure word of prophecy, whereunto ye do well that ye take heed (as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise) in your hearts" ; and he exhorts us to be mindful of these words. Therefore we are not speculating when we prayerfully study prophecy.

I really, really, really, am not trying purposely to bash or target Obama. It's more what he stands for, his policies and his political beliefs. He may be a real nice guy personally. A guy, well, a guy you'd just want to sit and have a beer with! (wink)

It's just that the news is moving so fast with all the 'changes' he is making. The news just keeps flowing into my inbox, and try as I may, I just can't ignore these 'changes' he is making. I MUST report them to you, at least as much as I have strength for. Here are three gems that I want you to see, and I am sorry to overwhelm you with three videos to watch, but please, DO WATCH THEM! The first one, by Glenn Beck is kind of unbelieveable in a big brother sort of way. The second one, well, it's just brilliantly funny! And I am surprised no one has threatened Beck for being so outspoken (for a mainstream news station). The third one, from Pajamas Media is also a hoot. America, you wanted change, you got it.

Jesus Is Coming Back Very Soon~Nathan Jones

Jesus Is Coming Back Very Soon

Now is the season!

by Nathan E. Jones

Jesus Christ is coming back to this Earth very soon.

Now, Jesus Himself made it crystal clear that we cannot know the date of His return. He stated inMatthew 24:36, "of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone."

But, the Bible makes it equally clear that those who have the Holy Spirit living in them — that is, those who believe in Jesus as Savior — can understand the nature of the times that mark His return (1 Thessalonians 5:2-6).

And folks, the season of the Lord's return is now! We are coming to the end of one age and the beginning of the age of Jesus' glorious reign right here on earth.

Signs that Show How to Know

What does God reveal in the Bible that shows us that now is the season of the Lord's return?

Well, there are nearly 500 prophecies in the Old Testament and in the New Testament 1 in every 25 verses that describe Jesus' Second Coming. Included in these prophecies God gives us an abundance of signs to be looking out for to know how soon Jesus' return will be.

Signs of Society
What are these signs? Well, one of the categories of signs to be looking out for pertains to the nature of Society. In Matthew 24:37 Jesus says that His coming "will be just like in the days of Noah." What the Lord is saying here is, "I'm going to come back in a time when the earth is in as bad a shape as it was in the days of Noah." In other words, world society will go full circle and return to being as evil as it was in those days.

Genesis 6 describes the days of Noah when mankind's "minds were focused upon evil." In the days of Noah, immorality and violence were everywhere. The Apostle Paul spells it out in detail (2 Timothy 3:1-4), "Realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God..." Truly that is the condition of society today.

Signs of Technology
Another category of end-time signs pertains to the amazing advancements in Technology.

Daniel 12:4 said there would be an explosion of knowledge and an increase in the rapidity of transportation at the end of this age. The Bible describes scenarios that depend on mass communication, satellite television, the Internet, computer technology and medical advances that have become a reality only in our day and time.

For example, Jesus foreshadowed nuclear weapons in Luke 21 in speaking of people "fainting from fear" due to the "powers of the heavens being shaken," and how people will wish to hide underground to escape the devastation (Revelation 6:15).

Think how amazing it is that in the 20th Century people began on horseback and ended in a rocket.

Signs in World Politics
Yet another category of signs pertains to World Politics. The Bible prophesies a very specific end time configuration of nations.

Israel is pictured as a nation once more that is surrounded by hostile Arab neighbors intent on its destruction. This, of course, has been the situation in the Middle East since the Israeli Declaration of Independence in May of 1948 (Ezekiel 35:1-36:7; 37:21-22).

Daniel prophesied that the Roman Empire would be revived. This began with the formation of the European Union (Daniel 2:36-41).

The Bible prophesies a great power located in the "remote parts of the north." This nation will menace Israel in the end times and will ultimately lead an invasion of Israel together with specified allies, all of which are modern day Muslim states (Ezekiel 38:1-39:16). Russia and its Muslim allies fit this description precisely.

Spiritual Signs
More evidence that Jesus will soon return is that at the end of this age Spiritual signs will abound.

Three times in Matthew 24 Jesus warns that the end of this age will see many false prophets claiming to be Christ with a resulting rise in cult followings, misleading many people away from the true teachings of the Bible.

Satanism in the form of witchcraft, New Age, and the occult were prophesied to become mainstream, and so they have. Paul writes in 1 Timothy 4:1 that "the Spirit explicitly says that in the latter times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons."

And, many churches will become apostate, denying Jesus and ignoring His moral law. Paul writes about those who profess to being Christian in 2 Timothy 4:3-4,"The time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine... and will turn aside to myths."

But, the signs are not all bad news. We are told that there will be some very positive spiritual signs in these end times. For instance, Jesus said that the Good News of salvation will spread throughout the world. He said, "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come" (Matthew 24:14).

There also will be a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit and a greater interest in Bible prophecy and understanding of it (Matthew 24:14; Joel 2; Daniel 12).

Signs of Nature
As a result of all this turning away from God, God will increase the signs of Nature. Natural disasters of every type increasing greatly in frequency and intensity like "birth pains" are God's way of calling people to repent and return to a loving relationship with Him (Matthew 24:8). Jesus stated in Luke 21:11 that "there will be great earthquakes, and in various places plagues and famines; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven."

Signs Concerning Israel
The prophetic signs that relate to Israel, though, are the most important of all because the Jews are God's prophetic time clock. What this means is that the Scriptures often tie a prophesied future event with something that will happen directly to the Jews.

An example can be found in Matthew 24 where Jesus prophesied that the re-establishment of the nation of Israel would be an end time sign. Using the fig tree as a symbol of Israel, He prophesied that when the fig tree re-blossoms, the generation that sees that happen will be the one that will witness His return. Well, the fig tree re-blossomed on May 14, 1948 when the nation of Israel was re-established, making our generation the one that will witness the Lord's return.

Jesus gave a similar prophecy about the city of Jerusalem. In Luke 21:24 He prophesied that the Jews would be dispersed from Jerusalem and be led captive among the nations. He then said to watch for their return to Jerusalem because, when they return, it will mark the season of His return.

In fulfillment of this prophecy, the Jews were dispersed from Jerusalem in 70 AD, and they returned in June of 1967, marking this day and time as the season of the Lord's return (Luke 21; Zechariah 8:4-8).

There are other prophecies concerning Israel that mark the end times when Jesus will return. One is found in Isaiah 35 where we are told that the decimated and barren land of Israel will flourish once again. In fulfillment of this prophecy, early in the 20th Century the Jewish settlers began to reclaim the land. Today, Israel has become the breadbasket of the Middle East.

Zechariah 12 tells us that Israel will become a military powerhouse in the end times, and today, the tiny nation of Israel is considered by military experts to have the fourth most powerful military force in the world.

Another key prophetic sign related to Israel in the end times is the one whose fulfillment we are witnessing today — the focusing of world politics upon the nation of Israel (Zechariah 12:2-3). All the nations of the world, including the United States, are coming against Israel over the issue of who controls the city of Jerusalem.

Truly, Israel's return as a nation almost 1900 years later is a miracle, proof positive that the Bible is the Word of God and that the prophecies in it have come true in this generation.

The Nature of Christ's Return

So why is God giving us all these signs to let us know about Jesus' soon return? Well, the key lies in why He is returning. Jesus is returning to deal with rebellion — sin — before setting up His Kingdom on earth. It is God's merciful and loving nature to let us know beforehand when He comes in justice and judgment to give us a chance to repent. 2 Peter 3:9 explains, "God does not wish that any should perish but that all should be brought to repentance."

God deals with sin in one of two ways — either in grace or in wrath. A person is under either the grace of God or the wrath of God. There is no third option. To be under the grace of God is a glorious thing. It means you have the promise that one day soon Jesus will appear and take you out of this world in an event called the "Rapture" before He deals wrathfully with rebellion (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

The Bible promises over and over that those who have accepted Jesus as Savior during this age will be delivered from God's wrath. Romans 5:9 says that "we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him." 1 Thessalonians 1:10 states that we are waiting "for His Son from heaven... who will deliver us from the wrath to come." The promise is repeated in 1 Thessalonians 5:9 "God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ."

But, if you're under God's wrath because you haven't ask for forgiveness of your sins and accepted Jesus as your Savior, you will stay behind and experience a wrath unlike anything you can even imagine. This will happen during what the Bible calls "The Tribulation" — seven years when the wrath of man, the wrath of Satan, and the wrath of God will be let loose upon this earth. For seven terrible and terrifying years the Earth will be devastated and billions of people will be annihilated before Jesus' Second Coming.

God is a God of love. Jesus says in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." But, God is also a God of justice. The Bible says in John 3:36, "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." It is God's very nature to love, but His love demands that evil be dealt with in justice.

The Bible clearly teaches that God never pours out His wrath without warning for He is a just and loving God who does not wish that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9). That is why He has provided so many signs to alert us to the fact that we are living on the threshold of the Tribulation and the soon return of Jesus Christ.

Decide

Where do you stand? Are you under God's wrath because you haven't accepted His free gift of salvation, or are you under God's grace because you have? Will you be one of those raptured before God's wrath, or will you suffer in it? Can you truly say that you are ready for Jesus' return?

You have a decision to make. If you haven't accepted Jesus as your Savior, then heed Mark 1:25."The time has come...the kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!" Believe in Jesus, God's Son, and have everlasting life.

If you have accepted Jesus as Savior, your sins have been forgiven and forgotten, and you can look forward with confidence to that glorious day when Jesus will appear in the heavens. Make sure in these last days that Jesus is also Lord of every area of your life, so that when He comes He will find you ready.

"Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back — whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: 'Watch!'" (Mark 13:35-37 NIV)

We are living on borrowed time.~Dr. David R. Reagan

Jesus is Coming Soon!

We are living on borrowed time.

by Dr. David R. Reagan

Many people believe there is nothing that can be known about the timing of the Lord's return because Jesus said He would return like a "thief in the night" (Matthew 24:42-44).

But Paul makes it clear in 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6 that Jesus' statement does not apply to believers:"But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief..." He then proceeds to explain why: "for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober." Paul is referring, of course, to the light of the Holy Spirit who indwells all true believers and who can enlighten us through our study of Scripture to know the season of the Lord's return (1 John 2:27).

God's Attitude

As a matter of fact, God is obligated by His character to warn the world of the imminent return of His Son. The reason is that Jesus is returning in great wrath to "judge and wage war" (Revelation 19:11), and God never pours out His wrath without warning.

God does not wish that any should perish, but that all should be brought to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Therefore, God always warns before He executes His wrath. He warned the world through Noah for 120 years. He warned Sodom and Gomorrah through Abraham. He sent Jonah to warn the pagan city of Ninevah, and He sent Nahum to the same city 150 years later.

Likewise, God is warning the world today that His Son is about to return. He is calling the world to repentance. The message of the hour to unbelievers can be summed up in these words: "Flee from the wrath that is to come by fleeing into the loving arms of Jesus now." Jesus came the first time as an expression of God's love; He came to die for the sins of Mankind. But when He returns, He will come in vengeance to pour out the wrath of God on those who have rejected God's love and grace.

The soon return of Jesus also carries with it a message for believers. Lukewarm Christians and carnal Christians are being called to commit their lives to holiness: "The night is almost gone, and the day is at hand. Let us therefore lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts" (Romans 13:12-14).

God's Method of Warning

God is alerting believers of the soon return of His Son through what are called "signs of the times." These are prophecies concerning world events that we are told to watch for, prophecies that will identify the season of the Lord's return.

The Bible is full of these signs. There are about 500 prophecies in the Old Testament that relate to the Second Coming of the Messiah. In the New Testament, one out of every 25 verses is concerned with the return of Jesus.

In fact, there are so many signs that it is difficult to grasp all of them. The best way I have found to do this is to put them in categories:

1) The Signs of Nature — We are told to watch for earthquakes, famine, pestilence, and signs in the heavens (see Matthew 24:7 and Luke 21:11).

This is the least respected category of signs for several reasons. For one thing, many people simply shrug their shoulders and say, "There have always been natural calamities, so what else is new?" Note that Jesus says these signs will be like "birth pangs" (Matthew 24:8) — that is, they will increase in frequency and intensity as the time draws near for His return. In other words, there will be more intense earthquakes and more frequent ones. That is exactly what is happening today.

Another reason these signs are given little respect is because most Christians are so rationalistic that they do not really believe in the supernatural, and they therefore find it difficult to believe that God speaks to the world through signs of nature. Yet, the Bible teaches this principle from start to finish.

God dealt with the world's sin through a great flood in the days of Noah (Genesis 6). He called the nation of Judah to repentance through a terrible locust invasion (Joel 1). In like manner, He called for the nation of Israel to repent by sending drought, wind storms, mildew, locusts, famine and pestilence (Amos 4:6-10). The prophet Haggai pointed to a drought as evidence that God was calling the people to get their priorities in order (Haggai 1:10-11).

The New Testament begins with a special light in the heavens marking the birth of the Messiah (Matthew 2:2). On the day that Jesus was crucified, there was three hours of darkness and an earthquake (Matthew 27:45-51). And when Jesus returns, the earth will experience the greatest earthquake in its history as every mountain is lowered, every valley is raised, and every island is moved (Revelation 16:17-21).

God has always spoken through signs of nature, and He continues to do so today. We had better pay close attention to them.

2) The Signs of Society — Jesus said that society will become increasingly lawless and immoral as the time approaches for His return. In fact, He said it would become as evil as it was in the days of Noah (Matthew 24:12,37-39).

Paul paints a chilling picture of end time society in 2 Timothy 3:1-5. He says it will be characterized by three loves — the love of self (Humanism), the love of money (Materialism), and the love of pleasure (Hedonism). He then points out that the payoff of this carnal lifestyle will be what the philosophers call Nihilism — that is, a society wallowing in despair. Men's minds will become depraved (Romans 1:28), and people will call evil good and good evil (Isaiah 5:20).

We are seeing these prophecies fulfilled before our eyes today as we watch our society reject its Christian heritage and descend into a hellish pit of lawlessness, immorality, and despair. Even worse, we are exporting our nihilism around the world through our immoral and violent movies and television programs.

3) The Spiritual Signs — There are both positive and negative spiritual signs that we are to watch for. The negative ones include the appearance of false christs and their cults (Matthew 24:5,11,24), the apostasy of the professing church (2 Thessalonians 2:3), an outbreak of Satanism (1 Timothy 4:1), and the persecution of faithful Christians (Matthew 24:9).

These negative spiritual signs began to appear in the mid-19th Century when Christian cults started forming. First came the Mormons, then the Jehovah's Witnesses, and then a great variety of spiritualist groups like the Church of Christ Scientists and the Unity Church.

The apostasy of the mainline Christian denominations began in the 1920's when the German school of higher criticism invaded American seminaries and undermined the authority of the Scriptures, teaching that the Bible is Man's search for God rather than God's revelation to Man.

During the 1960's Satanism exploded on the American scene and has since been exported worldwide through American movies, books, and television programs. Dabbling in the occult has become commonplace in the form of astrology, numerology, crystal gazing, transcendental meditation, and channeling. The whole trend has consummated in the appearance of the New Age Movement with its teaching that Man is God.

As society has secularized, true Christianity has come under increasing attack. Judeo-Christian values, once the foundation of Western Civilization, are now openly mocked, and those who still adhere to them are castigated as "intolerant fundamentalists" by the media.

The positive spiritual signs include the proclamation of the Gospel to the whole world (Matthew 24:14), a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit (Joel 2:28-32), and spiritual illumination to understand prophecies that have been "sealed up" until the end times (Daniel 12:4,9).

As with the negative signs, we are seeing these positive signs fulfilled in our day and time. Through the use of modern technology, the Gospel has been proclaimed throughout the world in this Century, and the Bible has been translated into all major languages.

The great end time pouring out of the Holy Spirit that was prophesied by the prophet Joel has also begun. Joel called it "the latter rain" (Joel 2:23), and he said it would occur after the Jews had returned to their land. The state of Israel was re-established in 1948. In 1949 God anointed two ministries that would have a worldwide impact — the ministries of Billy Graham and Oral Roberts. Then, in the 60's, came the Charismatic Movement which prompted renewal in worship and gave emphasis to the continuing validity of the gifts of the Spirit.

The acceleration in the understanding of Bible prophecy began in 1970 with the publication of Hal Lindsey's book, The Late Great Planet Earth. It seemed to open up to popular understanding many prophecies that had been "sealed up" until the end times (Daniel 12:4, 9). Remarkably, it became the number one best seller in the world — with the sole exception of the Bible — for the next ten years!

4) The Signs of Technology — The book of Daniel says that there will be an explosion of knowledge in the end times and that people will move about quickly (Daniel 12:4). There are many Bible prophecies that cannot be understood apart from modern technology. For example, how can the whole world look upon two bodies lying in the streets of Jerusalem (Revelation 11:8-9)? Modern television satellite technology makes it easy. How can the False Prophet build an image of the Anti-Christ that appears to be alive (Revelation 13:15)? The answer, of course, is the science of robotics. How can the False Prophet require all people on earth to take the mark of the Anti-Christ in order to buy and sell (Revelation 13:16-17)? It would not be possible apart from computers and lasers.

Jesus said that the Tribulation will be so terrible that all life on earth would cease to exist if He did not cut the period short (Matthew 24:21-22). How could all life be threatened prior to the advent of nuclear weapons? Another reference to nuclear power is likely contained in Luke's statement that men in the end times will "faint from fear" because "the powers of the heavens will be shaken"(Luke 21:26). That certainly sounds like a reference to the splitting of the atom.

5) The Signs of World Politics — The Bible prophesies that there will be a certain pattern of world politics that will characterize the end time geopolitical map.

The focus will be the re-established state of Israel (Zechariah 12:2-3). It will be besieged by a menacing nation from the "remote parts of the north," the nation of "Rosh" — or modern day Russia (Ezekiel 38:2,6). There will also be a threatening nation to the East that will be capable of sending an army of 200 million — namely, China (Revelation 9:13-16 and Revelation 16:12-13). A third source of danger to Israel will be the Arab nations that immediately surround it. They will covet the land and will try to take it from the Jews (Ezekiel 35:10 and 36:2).

Another key player on the world political scene in the end times will be a coalition of European nations that will form a confederation centered in the area of the old Roman empire (Daniel 2:41-44, Daniel 7:7,23-24, and Revelation 17:12-13). This confederation will serve as the political base for the rise of the Anti-Christ and the creation of his worldwide kingdom (Daniel 7:8).

Other international political signs include wars and rumors of wars (Matthew 24:6), civil wars (Matthew 24:7), and general international terrorism and lawlessness (Matthew 24:12).

6) The Signs of Israel — The signs related to the state of Israel are prolific and very important.

The most frequently repeated prophecy in the Old Testament is the prediction that the Jewish people will be regathered from the "four corners of the earth" in the end times (Isaiah 11:10-12). The Bible states that a consequence of this regathering will be the re-establishment of the state of Israel (Isaiah 66:7-8). The Scriptures say that once the Jews are back in their land, the land itself will experience a miracle of reclamation (Isaiah 35). The desert will bloom and people will exclaim,"This desolate land has become like the garden of Eden" (Ezekiel 36:35).

Another end time miracle will be the revival of the Hebrew language (Zephaniah 3:9). Most people are not aware of the fact that when the Jews were dispersed from their land in 70 A.D., they ceased to speak the Hebrew language. The Jews who settled in Europe developed a new language called Yiddish — a combination of German and Hebrew. The Jews who migrated to the Mediterranean basin created a language called Ladino — a combination of Hebrew and Spanish.

Other significant signs of Israel that we are told to watch for in the end times include the re-occupation of Jerusalem (Luke 21:24), the resurgence of Israeli military strength (Zechariah 12:6), and the re-focusing of world politics on Israel (Zechariah 12:3).

All these signs have been fulfilled in this century. The nation has been re-established, the land has been reclaimed, the ancient language has been revived, the Jews are back in Jerusalem, and Israel is the focal point of world politics.

Jesus says in Luke 21:28 that when these signs begin to happen, we should "straighten up and lift up our heads" because "our redemption is drawing near."

The Key Signs

The most important signs are the ones that relate to Israel because God uses the Jews throughout the Scriptures as His prophetic time clock. By this I mean that very often when the Lord is revealing an important event that will take place in the future, He will point to the Jewish people and state that when a certain thing happens to them, the important event will also occur.

A good example of this principle can be found in Daniel 9 in the famous "Seventy Weeks of Years" prophecy. The prophet tells us to watch for a decree to be issued that will authorize the rebuilding of Jerusalem. He then says that the Messiah will come sixty-nine weeks of years (483 years) after that decree is issued to the Jewish people.

There are two key prophecies which relate the return of Jesus to events that have occurred in Jewish history since 1948. These two events clearly established the period in which we are now living as the season of the Lord's return.

The State of Israel

The first is the re-establishment of the state of Israel which occurred on May 14, 1948. Jesus singled out this event as the one that would signal His soon return.

His prophecy is contained in the fig tree parable (Matthew 24:32-35) which He presented in His Olivet Discourse. The day before He delivered this speech, He had put a curse on a barren fig tree, causing it to wither (Matthew 21:28-29). This was a symbolic prophecy that God would soon pour out His wrath upon the Jewish people because of their spiritual barrenness in rejecting His Son.

The next day Jesus reminded His disciples of the fig tree. He said to watch for it to bloom again. In other words, He said watch for the rebirth of Israel. He indicated that when the fig tree blooms again, He would be at the gates of Heaven, ready to return (Matthew 24:33).

Equally significant, He added an interesting observation: "Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place" (Matthew 24:34). What generation? The generation that sees the fig tree blossom.

We are that generation. The fig tree has blossomed. Jesus is at the gates.

The City of Jerusalem

The second key event was prophesied by Jesus in the same speech, as recorded by Luke: "[The Jews] will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem will be trampled under foot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled" (Luke 21:24).

The first half of this prophecy was fulfilled in 70 A.D., forty years after Jesus spoke the words. In that year the Romans under Titus conquered Jerusalem and dispersed the Jews among the nations. Jerusalem remained under Gentile occupation for 1,897 years — until June 7, 1967, when Israel won the city back during the Six Day War.

The Jewish re-occupation of the city of Jerusalem is proof positive that we are living in the season of the Lord's return. Jesus said it would mark the end of the Gentile Age.

A Call to Action

There is no way to escape the conclusion that we are living on borrowed time. The signs of the times are upon us, and they are shouting for our attention.

Are you ready? If Jesus were to return today, would He be your "Blessed Hope" (Titus 2:11-14) or would He be your "Holy Terror" (Revelation 6:12-17)? If you have never received Him as your Lord and Savior, now is the time to act. Repent of your sins, and call upon the name of the Lord that you might be saved (Acts 2:14-39).

And if you are a Christian, are you living as if Jesus might return any minute? Have you committed your life to holiness? Are you praying for the lost and witnessing the Lord when you have an opportunity?

Are you yearning for the Lord's return? Can you say with Paul that you are a candidate for a "crown of righteousness" because you have lived your life "in the love of His appearing" (2 Timothy 4:7-8)?

Western intelligence sources in the Middle East have disclosed to DEBKAfile that a special unit of the Russian Federal Security Service - FSB, commissioned by Hizballah's special security apparatus earlier this year, was responsible for the massive discovery of alleged Israel spy rings in Lebanon in recent months with the help of super-efficient detection systems.

Those sources report that the FSB and Hizballah have amassed quantities of undisclosed data on Israel's clandestine operations in Lebanon and are holding it in reserve in order to leak spectaculars discoveries as and when it suits their purpose.

This disclosure, if borne out, would indicate that the Russian agency, which specializes in counterespionage, is engaged for the first time in anti-Israel activity in the service of an Arab terrorist organization. An Israeli security sources describes this turn of events extremely grave. It also cast an ominous slant on Moscow's deepening strategic involvement in Syria.

It was generally assumed until now that new electronic devices supplied by France to the Lebanese army were instrumental in uncovering the suspected Israeli spy rings. It now transpires that the Lebanese army was not directly involved; it only detained the suspects handed over by the Shiite Hizballah.

Those same sources disclosed that FSB agents, by blanketing every corner of Lebanon with their sophisticated surveillance systems, were able to detect the spy rings one by one and additionally hack into Israeli intelligence data bases.

The Russians dated Israel's massive clandestine infiltration of Lebanon to shortly after its 2006 Lebanese conflict. The Lebanese Shiites sustained heavy casualties and, fearing an Israeli surprise attack at that point, began conscripting thousands of young Shiites as fighters pell mell, without checking their backgrounds. In their haste, they also rounded up Syrian and Egyptian migrant laborers in Lebanon.

Israel used the opportunity to recruit large numbers of agents in both these groups, especially among the conscripts sent to Revolutionary Guards camps in Iran and Syrian military facilities for training.

Major Piece of the Puzzle: The Two Witnesses in Jerusalem

Most people are aware that part of Revelation describes the "Two Witnesses" who come to Jerusalem and Prophecy.

Most Scholars project this to be Moses and Elijah for several reason:
  1. Representing Law and the Prophets
  2. No one else respected universally by Orthodox Jew
That alone would be a simple sell to me if I were a Prophecy Expect and while I am a BlogScribe as well as Author Writer and studied Prophecy for over 30 years, I know there are "Experts" who will disagree.

My mother, a truck stop waitress, (mouthy) would say these might be experts but they have no common sense.

In Jerusalem, these two witness' will be seen by the Whole World Live. They will be killed and they will rise again.

No one more suited to cover this would be a person who does not believe in Christianity or Messianic Prophecy than a Jew who God may have placed in His Position for such a time as this.

I give you Rabbi Tovia Singer....,

(IsraelNN.com) Rabbi Tovia Singer of Israel National Radio and Jeremy Gimpel, host of the hit TV show Tuesday Night Live in Jerusalem, have joined forces to launch Israel’s newest Jewish television show – “The Singer & Gimpel Show”, broadcast live via the internet from an outdoor studio overlooking the Western Wall and the Temple Mount.

Part 1 addresses the question: Why don't Jews proselytize?

The Singer & Gimpel Show has a spontaneous question and answer format, with listeners writing in and calling in with their questions, and Tovia and Jeremy providing the answers. Rabbi Singer quips: “This show is totally raw. We have no idea what people are going to say and you get our true gut reaction which is always the most powerful and authentic. Gimpel adds: “The callers' questions are so wide-ranging you never know what's hiding around the next corner. We’ve been attacked, quizzed, put on the spot, but most importantly we’ve helped so many callers who want to understand more from Torah-true Zionist Jews.”

When asked how the idea came about Rabbi Singer says, “Jeremy was the visionary on this one. When I say that, I mean, he’s totally out of his mind! Only someone completely crazy could’ve thought of this.” Gimpel responds, “There are visions of the Messianic age in the Tanach (Jewish Bible) where we see nations flowing to Jerusalem to learn the ways of Hashem, and a picture of the world coming to the Jew and saying please take us with you for we know that G-d is with you. These prophecies weren’t only given to us so we would know how the story ends. They were given to us as a vision of how we should be living today. The message of the prophets is to be the change you want to see in the world, and that’s what Tovia and I are striving to do. We’re allowing the world to call in to Jerusalem with Mount Moriah before us, and to learn the truth about Israel, Judaism, and our relationship with G-d.”

After the successful syndication of Tuesday Night Live in Jerusalem, the duos' eyes are already set on cable and satellite syndication. “TNL is now aired in 18 million homes across America and so far all of the signs are pointing to it being another hit TV show. The beauty of this show is that we’re not only working on TV syndication but we’re working on national radio syndication as well,” Gimpel explains. "I have amazing people from Texas to thank. They have been with me from the beginning of TNL and I know they're proud seeing where Hashem has taken us. So many people talk about helping Israel and praying for Jerusalem and here are some folks who have taken their love and support and brought it to action. I will be forever grateful to them."

Both Tovia Singer and Jeremy Gimpel already have an impressive media track record, and this show is expected to be another huge step for Jewish media. The Singer & Gimpel Show is aired live every Thursday night at 11:00 p.m. Israel time at http://www.IsraelNationalRadio.com. Listeners can call in to the show at 1-800-427-488.
