LastGeneration: 10 Virgins and 144,000 witnesses -Grace Thru Faith

10 Virgins and 144,000 witnesses

Q. I just read your article on Matt: 25, about the 10 virgins.  I have always believed this to be about the rapture of the church, but your explanation  has convinced me it is for trib. believers. The only thing I am still confused about is v. 10 How can anyone come into the marriage after the rapture? who will be left for the mill. kingdom?  I thought the marriage took place during the 7 year trib. in Heaven or New Jerusalem.

Also another topic in Rev 7 and Rev 14 if Rev 7 is referring to the Jews and 14 is the church, why are the numbers of both 144,000?  Thanks for all your help, I have learned more from your website than all my teachings in church.

In its most literal sense, the word translated marriage in Matt. 25:10 (KJV) denotes the wedding banquet, which followed the actual ceremony. Several versions of the Bible have it translated this way. In the context of the parable it represents the Millennial Kingdom, not the marriage itself.

(# Editors Note: Not everyone agrees with Jack Kelley on Ten Virgins, I personally do not)

The number 144,000 is 12 times 12,000.  In Rev. 7 the Lord goes to great lengths to show this to be an actual number, 12,000 from each of 12 named Tribes of Israel.  In Rev. 14 the reference is also specific, although the number is symbolic. This group is described as having been redeemed from the earth and are before the Throne of God singing a new song, a song only they can sing. They are pure and blameless, they’ve been purchased from among men, and are offered as first fruits to God and the Lamb.

In Biblical numerology, 12 is the number of governmental perfection.  Multiplying it by 12,000 makes it perfect beyond comprehension.  Since all these characteristics uniquely describe the Church and since the Church contains many more than 144,000 members, the number has to be symbolic of a perfect system of government comprised of the Lord and His Redeemed Church.
