We should know our Bibles.
Here, Peter was quoting from the book of Psalms. Peter knew the Bible. At that time, the Bible was the Hebrew Scriptures, or the Old Testament. The people who followed Jesus quoted from it often. They knew the book. A hundred years ago, in the United States, most kids had read the Bible all the way through before they were 12.
Now, there are Christians who are late in life and have yet to read the whole book.
Study this incredible book of God's love, forgiveness and the redemption of mankind. The Bible shows us how salvation and joy can be ours and it gives us a way and a reason to live. We should read and study the Bible in our private time. Get to know the Word of God and you will get to know the God of the Word. Take the time to read because He took the time to bleed.
Dear Lord,
Thank you for the gift of Your Bible. I know I should read it and study it. Help me to commit time each and every day to do this. I want to seek Your face and so I want to read and study Your love letter to me. Help me to dedicate time every day to this. I pray this in Jesus' name, Amen.
